My Stubborn begins with a fiery spark; there’s no doubt romance is on the horizon. It follows Jun and Sorn as they navigate a friends-with-benefits relationship that might just turn into something genuine. Will they fall in love?
Synopsis
The series follows Jun, a mischievous and somewhat clueless character who struggles to recognize when Sorn, more composed and manipulative, is taking advantage of him. Sorn cleverly exploits Jun’s desire for intimacy to pursue a casual relationship. Jun is skilled at pushing people’s buttons, especially Sorn’s, but throughout the story, Sorn dominantly steers Jun into a friends-with-benefits arrangement. By the end, it almost feels like Sorn is the one who ends up being duped.
Themes in My Stubborn
One thing I want to mention about the series before moving forward is that many people feel there isn’t much of a plot, which can make it challenging to develop themes, cinematography, and performances. I somewhat agree, mainly because the series focuses more on the steamy scenes than on the storyline. Essentially, the plot centers around the evolving relationship between Sorn and Jun, transitioning from reluctant friends with benefits to a committed romantic relationship.
With that said, here are the themes my stubborn highlights explore:

The main couple, Sorn and Jun, start as friends with benefits and later become a serious couple.The series also features a girls’ love (GL) couple and two boys’ love (BL) couples.All couples begin their relationships as coworkers.
The two BL couples have an inappropriate dynamic where one is the boss and the other is an employee. This power imbalance is shown with Sorn and Jun, where Sorn uses his authority to make Jun do tasks, especially when angry. This creates an unhealthy relationship dynamic. Sorn is manipulative and possessive, doing everything to keep Jun close.
Main Characters
Jun
June begins the series navigating his dating life, initially seeking guidance to become more confident in flirting and intimacy. Due to his naïve nature, he didn’t fully grasp what he was getting into when Sorn offered to help him in this area. His trusting personality is what ultimately led him into Sorn’s trap. I highlight Jun’s naivety and trustfulness because his experience with Sorn isn’t isolated; it suggests a pattern. He’s not simply naïve; he’s been involved with multiple people who misunderstand their relationship with him.
Sorn
Sorn is an attractive man who can have anyone he desires, yet he fixates on Jun, unaware that what he truly wants is Jun. He becomes possessive and manipulative whenever something threatens his control. Sorn refuses to acknowledge his feelings or the desire for a relationship. Instead, he tells Jun that they should be intimate exclusively, positioning himself as Jun’s teacher in intimacy. In Sorn’s mind, this dynamic prevents Jun from being with others without his knowledge. Ultimately, it’s Sorn’s possessiveness and hidden love that drive his actions.
Love interest
Jun and Sorn are the main couple in this BL series. Jun has several other suitors, while Sorn starts the story with a girlfriend. We also follow Thai and Champ as our secondary couple, and Penny and Jun as the tertiary couple—the only girl-love pairing in the series. One of the women in the girl couple was previously Sorn’s girlfriend, creating a connection as her relationship with Sorn begins to unravel. Thai is Champ’s boss, introducing one of the series’ first toxic work dynamics. Although they are sweet to each other and there is genuine love, Thai’s position of authority creates an unhealthy imbalance. Champ takes pride in having his boyfriend as his boss, knowing Thai has considerable control over him, but Champ acknowledges that Thai wouldn’t hurt him.
Level of Spiciness
For my stubborn, it earns a solid five out of five with a blazing spicy rating. If possible, it would definitely score an infinite rating. This is one of the spiciest BL series I have ever watched. While the plot isn’t overly complex, that’s because the focus is clearly on delivering intense, memorable spicy scenes—and there are plenty of them throughout the series.

Finals Thoughts on My Stubborn
My Stubborn holds a special nostalgic place for me, likely because it was my second BL series. I really enjoy the story’s setting. It’s definitely geared towards those who prefer a spicier series. I often find myself switching between wanting something more serious and craving something a bit more playful and bold.
One aspect I appreciated about the series is how it portrays inappropriate workplace relationships by showing both perspectives. For example, with Champ and Thai, there isn’t a traditional inappropriate relationship, but rather an unhealthy power dynamic. Thai doesn’t use his authority to coerce Champ into anything, highlighting a more subtle complexity. In contrast, the relationship between Jun and Sorn clearly represents the toxic side of an inappropriate power dynamic. Sorn doesn’t explicitly demand June sleep with him, but he abuses his position of authority, and Jun’s naivety makes him vulnerable. This contrast effectively illustrates different facets of inappropriate workplace relationships and power imbalances.
Yes, true to BL fashion, despite the toxicity in the story, the couples ultimately come together, everyone grows as a person, and they all live happily ever after.
