It was time for another weekly weekend recap and honestly, this one was simple but worth sharing.
Friday Night : The Start of the Weekend

Friday night was all about rest. I went straight home after work, crawled into bed, and took a much-needed nap. For some reason, I felt incredibly fatigued, and instead of fighting it, I listened to my body. Not the most thrilling Friday, but definitely the right choice. I needed that reset.
Saturday : Pain and Chores

Saturday morning started bright and early with my very first Pilates class at 7:30 a.m. Pilates completely humbled me. My whole body was shaking and, even afterwards, I was sore in places I didn’t know existed. After pushing through the workout and the pain, a surprising thought bubbled up: maybe I should learn to defend myself. I filled out a form just to get info about a jujutsu class and before I knew it I had scheduled myself for a Monday session. It almost felt like I hated my body in that moment: frustrated with how easily it was pushed, annoyed at the aches, and also amazed at what it could do. It was messy and complicated and strangely motivating all at once.
After class, I came home, tackled laundry, and then spent the rest of the day resting because my body simply refused to cooperate.
Stay Tuned for my first Jujitsu Class recap.
Sunday: Get Out of the House

Sunday had a different energy. I started with a homemade pumpkin chai latte partly to save money, partly to save calories, and mostly because fall drinks just landed in the soul. After that, I drove about an hour away from home to break out of my routine. First, I made a stop at my storage unit to drop some things off. Then I headed to a park I’d never been to before because one of my goals is to keep trying different places instead of sticking to the same ones. At the park, I set up to get some work done: I wrote blog posts, did a little editing, and even planned out my upcoming trip to Tampa.
The one thing I feel like I was doing this whole day was waiting for my laptop. I can honestly say, I have felt naked without. Yes, I know I have a problem. Don’t judge me. After $636, I am back and it feels so good.
Next Sunday I’ll be there, and true to form, I made sure to lay out every detail contingency plans and all. I’m motivated to go, rain or shine.
All in all, it turned out to be a weekend made of rest, small experiments, and a little gentle self-confrontation. Sometimes a nap, a class that whooped you, and a road trip to a new park are exactly the weather your next week needs.
